The first cost is the Supreme Court of Tasmania Court filing fee, and the second cost is the fee you pay the company or individual who prepares the paperwork that is submitted to the Court. The costs listed below are the current Tasmanian Supreme Court filing fees for the financial year July 1st 2025 up to and including June 30th 2026.
Publishing a Notice of Intention to apply for a grant of Probate or Letters of Administration in Tasmania
Our first step in the process is to run what is called a Notice of Intention, which is published on the Supreme Court of Tasmania website at https://www.supremecourt.tas.gov.au/probate/notices-intention-apply/.
The information that needs to be included in the Notice of Intention is all quite standard and includes;
- the name of the deceased
- date of the will
- Tasmanian residential address of the deceased
- name of the executor(s)
- addresses of the executor(s)
- our address for service so that any interested parties can make contact
And then the following wording is written:
TAKE NOTE:
After 14 days from the date of publication of this notice an application for a grant of probate of the will dated "date of will" in the aforementioned estate will be made to the Probate Registry of the Supreme Court of Tasmania.
The Probate Filing Fee

Regardless of the value of the estate, the Probate filing fee in Queensland is
$819.00. If an executor holds a commonwealth issued concession or seniors card, the filing fee is reduced to
$149.60.
Cost 3: The Fee charged by the company who prepares your Probate application

The majority of them base their fees on the value of the assets held be deceased. At Making Probate Easy our fee is $1100, regardless of the value of the estate.
